Ae Wasser supplies specialized CO₂ absorbers and moisture absorbers (desiccant pots) designed to condition incoming air during tank breathing. These systems protect sensitive stored media by preventing contamination from carbon dioxide and moisture during tank filling and emptying operations.
CO₂ Absorbers – Protection of Demineralized Water Quality
Function & Working Principle
CO₂ absorbers are installed to remove carbon dioxide from ambient air entering storage tanks during filling or emptying. When tanks breathe, exhaust or intake air may contain CO₂, which can dissolve into stored liquids and adversely affect their quality.
For demineralized (DM) water storage tanks, controlling dissolved CO₂ (ppm level) is critical. CO₂ ingress increases conductivity and degrades water quality, negatively impacting downstream steam generation systems.
To prevent this, CO₂ absorbers are installed on the tank roof air vent nozzle, where incoming air passes through the absorber media, removing CO₂ before it enters the tank.
Key Applications
- Demineralized Water Storage Tanks
- Power Plants: Steam and combined‑cycle power plants
- Oil & Gas Utilities: DM water supply systems for steam generation
Key Benefits
- Maintains low CO₂ ppm levels in demineralized water
- Preserves water quality for high‑pressure boiler systems
- Reduces corrosion and scaling risks in downstream equipment
Moisture Absorbers (Desiccant Pots) – Moisture Control for Corrosive Media
Function & Working Principle
Moisture absorbers, also known as desiccant pots, are designed to remove water vapor from atmospheric air entering tanks during air inbreathing. By absorbing moisture, they prevent condensation and dilution of sensitive stored liquids.
The primary industrial application is concentrated sulfuric acid (98%) storage tanks. During air inbreathing, humid air can introduce moisture into the tank, diluting the acid. Sulfuric acid concentrations below 96% become highly corrosive to carbon steel, significantly increasing the risk of tank damage.
To avoid this, moisture absorbers are installed on the tank roof vent nozzle, ensuring that incoming air is dried before contact with the tank contents.
Key Applications
- Concentrated Sulfuric Acid (98%) Storage Tanks
- Chemical storage tanks sensitive to moisture ingress
- Industrial facilities handling hygroscopic or corrosive fluids
Key Benefits
- Prevents dilution of concentrated sulfuric acid
- Protects carbon steel tanks from accelerated corrosion
- Extends tank service life and improves operational safety
- Reduces maintenance and replacement costs
Typical Industrial Applications
- Demineralized Water Supply Systems
(Steam and combined‑cycle power plants)
- Steam Utility Systems
(Oil & gas and process industry projects)
